EPAL General Assembly: Dual presidency and Executive Board re-elected

At the EPAL general meeting in Budapest, the presidents were confirmed in their positions. Dirk Hoferer (EPAL Germany) and Jarek Maciążek (EPAL Poland) were unanimously re-elected. As in their first term of office, they will serve jointly as co-presidents. The other members of the EPAL International Executive Board were also re-elected. The term of office for all members of the Executive Board is three years.

Jarek Maciążek: “I am delighted to be continuing the trust-based work together with Dirk Hoferer and my re-elected colleagues on the Executive Board. Continuity and progress in the organisation of the EPAL pallet pool are two important guiding principles for us, which will continue to shape our work in the coming years.”

Dirk Hoferer: “This ensures that the focus of our joint work can be continued with foresight. Issues such as digital and technical progress, the circular economy and the sustainability goals of politics, trade and industry are key tasks that we will be addressing over the next three years on behalf of our many EPAL licensees.”

Many important current projects and topics were also discussed and presented at the general meeting and the board meeting.

The establishment of the EPAL Euro pallet QR is one of the central issues. The production trend continues to rise. For 2025, a higher total number of EPAL Euro pallets produced with QR codes is expected than in the first year of 2024, when approximately 1.4 million pallets were produced. In the first five months of 2025, around 920,000 EPAL Euro pallets QR were already produced.

Other important topics continue to be the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). EPAL recently published a declaration of conformity for the EPAL Euro pallet in relation to the PPWR. Further information can be found here.
